A Day in the Life of a Regency Lady
Whitchurch Silk Mill
Tuesday 13 May 2025
7pm - 8:30pm
Tickets: £15
Immerse yourself in the daily life of a Regency lady with Sophie Andrews of Laughing with Lizzie, her Regency wardrobe and a selection of antique items.
By looking at her clothes, you will discover how a Regency lady spends her day. Abigail Rose will assist Sophie with her attire, layer by layer, discussing the importance of the clothing worn by a regency lady, such as Austen’s Lizzie Bennet or Emma, and explaining the significance of each clothing item.
Starting from the early morning when a lady awakes, Sophie will be dressed for the day by her ladies’ maid (Abigail) and will take you through her typical daily routine of taking tea, calling on friends, letter writing, needlework and, towards the end of the day, changing for an evening’s entertainment, such as a ball.
A range of antique Regency items from Sophie’s collection will help illustrate the day’s activities.
All tickets must be booked in advance. In aid of Living Weaving Heritage at the Mill
Please note tea and coffee will be available for donation. Doors open at 6.30pm.
