The Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra makes its first visit to The Anvil.  The evening’s programme begins with Beethoven's stirring and dynamic overture, which brilliantly sets the scene for Goethe's play Egmont about a noble opponent of tyranny in the sixteenth century.

This is followed by Grieg's piano concerto, which is the perfect balance of drama and lyricism, from its famous opening flourish to the vigorous 'peasant dance' finale.

Finally, the audience can enjoy Brahms' fourth and his final symphony. Its four movements balance the dramatic and thoughtful sides of the composer's character. The finale is a masterly set of variations on a theme by Bach.

Jonathan Darlington conducts the orchestra, and they are joined by pianist Federico Colli, who has rapidly gained worldwide recognition for his compelling, unconventional interpretations, clarity of sound, remarkable originality and philosophical approach to music-making. The Italian Fortune Italia Magazine (2023) selected him as one of Italy’s most influential ’40 under 40’ people in Arts and Culture.
