Summer Shakespeare In The Walled Garden: The Tempest

The Walled Garden, Down Grange
23 to 25 June
Performance times vary, please see below

The Proteans return to Basingstoke’s ‘best-kept secret’ the Walled Garden in Down Grange, for another of their popular performances of classic plays and are delighted to present William Shakespeare’s The Tempest for Summer 2023

A luxury yacht carrying Italian Aristocracy, A-Listers and social media influencers returning from a wedding, sinks off the coast of a remote Island. The inhabitants of this Island are a magician, his daughter, a shape-shifting spirit serving Bowie vibes and a member of a downed airline cabin crew with amnesia who everyone calls Caliban…

Laughter, love and intrigue all mix into a Pina Colada of a romp through Shakespeare’s last play. This Summer join The Proteans in the beautiful Walled Garden for a Desert Island disco with a Shakespearian twist. With the original text intact (but abridged), songs, comedy and a lot of heart, this is just the show you need to kick off a great summer.

As ever, ticket holders are welcome to arrive up to 1 hour before the performance begins. We encourage you to bring a picnics and Prosecco to enjoy, while you soak up the atmosphere and experience the delight of some outdoor theatre!
