The Sixteen: A Mother's Love
The Anvil,
Thursday 28 November 2024,
7:30pm,
Tickets: £38, £29. Under 25s and f/t students £12 (includes £4 booking fee).
From medieval carols to visionary modern masterpieces, The Sixteen's festive programme takes its inspiration from the story at the heart of the season: a baby in a stable, surrounded by simply heavenly singing.
Christmas is a time for families and old friends – for well-loved tunes and good cheer. But it's also a time of mystery and wonder: of silent nights, and sounds that echo across centuries.
Whether performing a simple medieval hymn or expressing the complex musical and emotional language of a contemporary choral composition, The Sixteen does so with tonal warmth, rhythmic precision and immaculate intonation. Conductor Harry Christophers, along with the ensemble he founded 45 years ago, have set benchmark standards for the performance of everything from late medieval polyphony to new works from today’s finest choral composers.
Don’t miss this delightful concert of choral music as it sets the yuletide season off on the right note.
