The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

40th Anniversary Tour

Friday 13 March 2026, 7.30pm

The Anvil, Basingstoke

Last year marked the 40th anniversary of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, who, from their humble beginnings in small rooms above old pubs, have taken the world by storm with their off-beat humour and four-stringed virtuosity.

Now the celebrated group bring their rip-roaring show to The Anvil on Friday 13 March, with classy new tunes, brilliant performers, and fresh twisted perspectives on classic rock, pop and beyond - all played on nothing but ukuleles.

There are no drums, pianos, backing tracks, guitars, or banjos, no pitch shifters or electronic trickery - just the astonishing revelation afforded by the rich orchestration of differently tuned ukuleles and dynamic vocals.

Look out Woodstock, roll over Tchaikovsky and let Beethoven tell ZZ Top, Billie Eilish, AC/DC and Amy Winehouse the news. It’s witty, it’s funny, and it channels everything from Doo-Wop to Synthrock, with nylon-strung versions that run playful rings around American Funk and classical ballet music.

This is an orchestra like no other. These are the sultans of ping!

After 40 years, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain are still thrilling audiences with their all-singing, all-strumming, full-throttle, foot-stomping concerts. Buckle up for a helter-skelter ride through every kind of musical genre with plenty of laughs along the way.

Tickets are priced at £37. Under 25s £27 (includes £4 booking fee). Contact the Anvil Arts box office on 01256 844244 or visit anvilarts.org.uk.
