August Adventures: A summer full of fun in Basingstoke and Deane
Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained this summer? August Adventures has you covered! Across Basingstoke and Deane, families can enjoy an exciting mix of interactive activities, performances, creative workshops and more, all completely free. Events run from 11am to 3pm, so drop in and enjoy the fun.
Friday 7 August in War Memorial Park
The programme launches on Friday 7 August at The War Memorial Park, where families can dive straight into the fun. Kids can have a go with DJ workshops or enjoy the musical playground of Play the Rig built from upcycled and recycled objects. There will be summer themed craft activities with Jacky Purtill and Rachel Davis. Louise Hight will also be on hand to help you make pipe cleaner animals. Basingstoke Voluntary Action will be holding their Family Fun Day with more free activities.
Tuesday 11 August in Penwood
The excitement continues in Penwood, with nine-hole mini golf. The Love Basingstoke team will be on hand with crafts including decorating a mini skateboard, mini t-shirt key ring, pencil case or purse.
Thursday 13 August in Tadley
Our adventures take us to Tadley on Thursday 13 August for one of the busiest days in the calendar. We’ll have tower building challenges, drumming workshops and LEGO activities with The Brick People. You can also decorate your own pencil case with The Mum Seasonal Craftshop or have a go at slime making. Join Buzzy Bee and Betty Bug for a super fun summer disco at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm, where they will teach you lots of fun dances including The Ladybird Line Dance and the Buzzy Bee Boogie, as well as some cool routines to some well known pop music favourites.
Tuesday 18 August in Russell Howard Park
On Tuesday 18 August, Russell Howard Park plays host to a range of exciting activities. Kids can have a go at fencing with the Little Musketeers in a fun, safe and engaging way, using specially designed foam and plastic equipment. Pop Up Play Village will be with us for some role play fun in a café, ice cream shop and construction site sure to entertain our younger visitors. Louise Hight will be back, this time with Doodle Birds of Peace and the Love Basingstoke team will be on hand with puzzling fun – expect a selection of jigsaw puzzles, wordsearches and code breaking. We’ll also have lots of traditional games to have a go at including nine-hole crazy golf, gorilla golf putt challenge, high striker, soft archery, splat the rat and giant quoits.
Wednesday 26 August at Brighton Hill Park
Our adventures come to an end on Wednesday 26 August in Brighton Hill Park, with a dynamic mix of creative and physical activities. Visitors can try graffiti workshops, drumming sessions and skateboard coaching, or take part in disc golf. The day will also feature the much-loved Junk Jodie with her show Rainbow-LICIOUS and some craft activities. Decorate your own notebook or make a wooden spoon character with Artful Kids, while Pop Up Play Village are back for some role play fun.
