Challenge yourself in 2023 to Veganuary

With every new year, comes new resolutions. And, for many people, that means trying out a vegan diet for the month of January – otherwise known as Veganuary.

If you’re thinking about embarking on a vegan adventure this month, or even if you’re already a pro, we’ve got some tips and advice to help make your Veganuary a success.

Established in 2014, a UK-based non-profit organisation launched Veganuary, to encourage people to ditch the animal products and try a vegan lifestyle for the entire month of January. The idea is that by doing so participants will not only feel healthier, but will also help reduce animal cruelty and environmental damage. Millions of people around the globe have participated since 2014, and in last year’s campaign more than 620,000 people took the Veganuary pledge. Are you up for the challenge?

With a few simple switches, you’ll be acing the challenge in no time, even more so with the help of major food brands releasing new vegan choices every year, just in time for Veganuary.

There are a few things to keep in mind if you want to successfully complete Veganuary. First, it’s important to educate yourself on what a vegan diet entails. This means familiarizing yourself with which foods are and are not vegan-friendly. It’s also important to have a plan and some go-to recipes to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need.

Finally, don’t be afraid to reach out to your friends and family for support – or even to just share recipes! Going vegan can be a lot of fun, and it’s always more fun when you do it with friends.

Here’s a list of our quick tips for taking part in Veganuary this 2023:

1) Take a trip to Vemillion and we’ll take the pressure off checking food labels, everything is 100% vegan!

2) Check out the different plant-based sections in the supermarkets – there are so many alternatives to cheese and meat products you’d be surprised what you can make vegan!

3) Beware of milk powder! It’s easy to think that something as simple as crisps would be vegan, but there is often hidden milk powder in the most unlikely of products – remember to check the labels!

4) Teaming up with a friend makes all the difference.
