Our classes are suitable for children aged 18 months to school age with their carers, and give you and your child the opportunity to explore the adventure and your imaginations together. As well as weekly classes there are one-off specials, as well as sessions in nursery, preschool and school settings, both on a regular weekly basis or one-off specials to link to a particular theme.
My background as a performer started in my childhood when I was involved in amateur dramatics and dance shows. I loved the thrill of performing and knew it was something I wanted to pursue as a career.
I went on to study a degree in musical theatre at Guildford School of Acting and then went on to work professionally in theatres and entertainment venues around the country. I have stilt walked at Warwick Castle and Madame Tussauds as well as playing walkabout characters for both venues and for private corporate functions. You never know when those performance skills might come in useful!
When I had my own children I was keen to combine my performing skills and passion for helping children grow in confidence and expression and Drama Tots was the perfect fit. Created by a good friend of mine, who I had met on an acting job, it combines music, movement and imaginary play to take us on weekly changing adventures using original music as well as some nursery rhyme favourites. No two classes are the same and I love how the children develop listening, language and confidence skills that will give them the perfect start in life.
The classes have been developed to work alongside the early years curriculum and have loads of educational elements while also teaching children how to unleash their imaginations and express themselves.
Currently classes operate in Old Basing at St Mary’s Parish Room on a Monday and Lychpit Community Hall on a Thursday during term times. The Autumn Term starts on 12 September 2022. We offer a three class trial package so you can try the classes and please do follow our social media pages for announcements of new venues and days. If you think Drama Tots should be in your area, please get in touch!
Tuesday and Wednesday are days when I visit nursery and preschool settings so if you think your child’s setting would be interested in a Drama Tots visit please pass on the information so they can get in touch.
