Looking for a secondary school in Basingstoke and Deane

If you are looking for a secondary school for your child from September 2026 then it’s almost time to apply. For more information on the application process take a look at Hampshire County Council’s website.

Hampshire County Council also has a handy list of key dates including when applications open, the deadline and the date you will find out what school your child has been allocated.

You’ll also find a useful school finder tool on the Hampshire County Council website which highlights the catchment areas for each school so you can see if you fall into these.

The Hurst School

Headteacher presentations will take place at 6.30pm and 7:.0pm, and visitors will be able to tour the school’s facilities. There is no need to book a place for the Open Evening.

The Hurst School will also hold Open Mornings for Year 6 children and their parents on the mornings of Monday 6, Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 October. This is an opportunity to tour the school and ask any questions to members of the Senior Leadership Team. You will need to book a place on an Open Morning. The Vyne Community School
