In the country

When thinking about Basingstoke and Deane you may be surprised to find out there are many rural villages.

North of Basingstoke

North of Basingstoke town you’ll find Kingsclere, Burghclere and Ecchinswell. They are surrounded by beautiful countryside with rolling hills. They are also well situated for reaching Newbury for shopping or those requiring train services to London Paddington.

These areas offer great places to walk and country pubs. Beacon Hill is a great, easy to reach, vantage point which gives magnificent view of Highclere Castle, home to the real Downton Abbey.

For those that enjoy team sports you’ll find cricket clubs in Ashford Hill and East Woodhay and a bowling club in Kingsclere. If golf is your preferred pastime then Sandford Springs Hotel and Golf Club is local.

Separated from neighbouring villages by farmland, Bramley is also located north of Basingstoke. Amenities in the village include a sub post office, an estate agent, the village bakery and of course a village pub.

South of Basingstoke

South of Basingstoke and the M3 and surrounded by farmland you’ll find Ellisfield, Cliddesden, Dummer and Farleigh Wallop.  Here you’ll find housing that is spaced out, sometimes down single track roads.
