Two new events are heading to The Vyne, National Trust, Hampshire this October. Tom Fletcher's ‘Who's in Your Book’ interactive family trail through the gardens and a new magical ‘Stranger Folk’ digital adventure played by mobile app is set to haunt those aged seven to 12. Alongside this, explore the grounds, enjoy a family friendly walk through Morgaston Woods and finish off with a treat in the cosy Brewhouse tea-room.
4. Free October half-term fun
Join us (the Love Basingstoke team!) for three days of spooktacular activities in the Top of the Town, Basingstoke town centre. Perfect for children aged three to 13. Little monsters can enjoy magical moments, creative crafts, and eerie adventures - all free of charge. No tricks, just treats - don’t miss out!

Top autumn events for adults in Basingstoke and Deane
1. Live music, food and Oktoberfest
Set on the beautiful Dummer Down Farm, King Harvest is a boutique festival celebrating Americana old time, bluegrass, folk, and country music. The festival begins at 10am Friday 25 and finishes Sunday 27 September at 4pm. During autumn, you will also find the Brewery taproom open most Fridays and Saturdays with a rotation of local food trucks and regular live music. In October, get ready for Oktoberfest! Von Hit Vonder Bunde returns with live oompah music, bigger games and plenty of laughs. Tuck into great food from Son of a Bun and raise a stein with beer from Dummer Down Brewery.
2. Wine and dine
If you’re looking for cosy dining in Hampshire, Silchester Farm has you covered, with seasonal flavours, hearty dishes, roaring fire pits and the warm, rustic charm that makes this time of year so special at Silchester Farm. Alongside upcoming Sunday lunch clubs and harvest feast events, this year the farm comes alive after dark on Saturday 31 October for an atmospheric evening of live music, outdoor food, cocktails, firelight and a spectacular fireworks display.
3. Adult pantomime!
Not your traditional pantomime, but you can expect a giant helping of innuendo as Pumpkin Pantos bring Rubbin’ Wood to Central Studio Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October. As the name might suggest, this pantomime is most definitely for over 18s only.
4. Crafty fun at Proteus
Proteus Creation Space has a brilliant line up of things to do for adults this autumn. Get crafty with Becky Boobala at the Shiny Shoe Workshop, turn an old pair of shoes into a shiny masterpiece on Friday 16 October. Looking ahead, there’s also a festive craft-a-long, Cocktails and Christmas Crafting on Friday 27 November.
5. Harvest and Heritage
Celebrate the colours, creativity and traditions of autumn at Whitchurch Silk Mill’s Harvest and Heritage Festival. Over three days from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October, the historic mill will be transformed with seasonal displays, harvest-inspired decorations and showcases of traditional craftsmanship.
